I’m mid-Zoom. Out of state consult. Talking contracts, timelines, all the Realtor things…
Text from Felicia:
“Want to go rescue 10 baby possums? Their mom died.”
Me:“Almost done. I can be ready in 15. Can you drive? I have work to do.”
FIFTEEN minutes later… we’re on the road.
Put that thang down, flip it and reverse it…Because of course we get another call and backtrack for a baby squirrel.
So there I am…Booking showings, Connecting a new buyer with a lender, Setting up home searches, & Following up on a listing.
And Felicia?
She’s got that baby squirrel tucked in, keeping it warm with body heat and the car heater like the wildlife whisperer she is.
Real estate doesn’t stop. Rescue doesn’t stop. And apparently neither do we.
This is what “in between appointments” looks like over here. Made it back just in time for my meetings and showings!
Helping people find homes. Helping wildlife survive. Just another totally normal day.

This is just 1 of 40 dogs headed up north to live his best life! When we arrived to pickup Beau, we couldn’t believe this sweet baby wasn’t adopted yet. St Francis Animal Sanctuary & Rescue is at it again! Stay tuned for the next Transport to the North.
One of the reasons I sell real estate is to help dogs like these. Did you know that for every home our clients buy or sell, we sponsor a dog for adoption?
Last year, we sponsored 22 dogs, provided a pet pantry to Washington Parish, did a donation match for give Nola day and provided medical equipment to help reduce the cost of spays/neuters for St. Francis Animal Sanctuary.
Who do you know that wants to buy or sell a home? Let’s help some more dogs find their forever home!

I mean this from the bottom of my heart! When it comes to animals, Felicia has the biggest heart of anyone I know. And the universe knew it too, because it handed her TWO baby otters on her birthday weekend. Her birthday was the 24th, and her favorite animal just happens to be an otter. So when two baby otters needed a transport from North Louisiana to Hammond, we loaded up and made it a celebration.
Three hours each way. Two tiny otter babies. One very happy birthday girl! Happy Birthday, Felicia!! May every year bring you otters, adventures, and the knowledge that the world is better because you’re in it. Every transport matters. Every animal has a story. And sometimes, the universe wraps it all up in a birthday miracle.
A massive thank you to Leslie Greene for caring for these babies and getting them to us safely and a big shout out to the amazing Geaux Wild Rehab for taking these babies in and allowing us to help get them to you! I love being a part of rescue!

Meet this sweet pup, Molly, who was taken from her mama in Maryland and ended up “lost” all the way in Saint Tammany Parish. Her mom knew in her gut something wasn’t right and had a strong feeling that someone had taken her beloved girl down South.
She kept searching… and finally spotted her in a photo from STPDAS. That’s when the race began to verify ownership, rally volunteers, and figure out how to get her baby HOME.
Thanks to the help of so many compassionate people, her journey home has officially begun! She had 14 legs across the states and one sleep over before being reunited with her mom! Not every transport is the same. Some are tough. Some take a village. But this one? This one hits the heart in the best way.
She was so happy to be back in her mommas arms! Im so happy for this sweet baby and her very excited momma!!

Felicia and I left this morning to transport a mama dog and her pups to a rescue in New Roads,
but before we even got there, the universe had other plans.
Just a few miles from the house, we saw two sweet pups in a ditch. Confused, scared, and unsure… but still wagging.
Because that’s what dogs do. They hope!
And of course, Felicia did everything to keep them from running across the highway!
If gaining a puppy’s trust were an Olympic sport, she’d have the gold medal every time. Watching fear melt into tail wags never gets old.
By the end of the day:
A brave mama and her babies made it safe to rescue
Two ditch pups were no longer alone
This is why we do it.
This is why we stop.
This is why no detour is ever really a detour in rescue.

I get a call from Felicia… and if you know, you know.
Next thing I know, she scoops me up and we’re road-tripping to Belle Chasse to pick up an injured owl, then hauling tail to Hammond where said owl will spend the night before heading to LSU for evaluation.
Because rescue doesn’t clock out. It just changes locations.
Storm is going to get to move outside soon! St. Francis Animal Sanctuary & Rescue volunteers are always ready to jump in! Marcos, you still going to say yes when I say "Hey, babe. Wanna do something with Felicia and I today?" 🤣😂
I can’t believe Felicia went and picked up Storm off of a bridge all by herself! 😱 Thank you, Geaux Wild Rehab for taking care of Storm! Y’all follow Geaux Wild Rehab to see all of the amazing work they do! To help Storm, of course we ran over and built an outdoor enclosure!
There’s a hurt bobcat in Thibodeaux!? Say less.
This is how it went:
Felicia: sends screenshot of help request
Me: *Calls Marco to gently ask what he has planned tonight and if it included a trip to Thibodeaux.*
Also Me: Marcos is in, what supplies do we need?
Rescue: Be Careful!!!!!
Us: 😳🤗😃
Can you guess which emoji is who!?
Welp… I can officially add “𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩 𝙗𝙤𝙗𝙘𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣” to my life résumé. ✔️🐾😅 So can Marcos, Felicia & Macie!
A few volunteers from St Francis Animal Sanctuary & Rescue heard the call for help and said, “Yep, we’re on the way!” Next thing you know, we’re at Geaux Wild Rehab, soaked head to toe, laughing like kids at summer camp, and somehow managing to build enclosures for actual bobcats. 🐱🛠️🌧️
Was it wet? 100%.
Was it chaotic? Obviously.
Did we have an absolute blast? You already know.
There’s just something about getting drenched, doing good, and hanging out with people who love animals as much as you do. My heart (and my socks) are still full.
Wild day. Wild friends. Wild cause. Would do it again in a heartbeat. 💛🐾
One of the highlights? Helping put together the Nutria float! We had a blast crafting this little tribute, proving that even Louisiana’s most infamous swamp critter can be parade-worthy. It was all about fun, community, and a little bit of creative flair!
Thank you to everyone who came out, walked with us, cheered us on, or just stopped to pet a pup along the route. Can’t wait to do it again next year!
What started as a desire to help animals through real estate quickly turned into something much bigger. From sponsoring dogs for adoption to jumping into every animal-related opportunity I could find, this journey has brought me so much joy over the past few years.
In January, my love for real estate and my dedication to animal rescue came together in the best way possible—I had the incredible opportunity to join the board of St Francis Animal Sanctuary & Rescue!
The connections between these two worlds run deeper than I ever imagined. Finding homes—for both people and pets—requires compassion, patience, and a deep understanding of needs. Whether it’s matching a family with their dream home or helping a rescue pet find their forever family, the mission is the same: creating safe, happy places to call home.
Attending this conference may be animal-focused, but the knowledge and connections I’m gaining are helping me grow both as a real estate professional and as a board member. The more I learn, the more I see how these two passions truly go hand in hand.
Grateful is an understatement! Here’s to making a difference—one home, one pet, and one opportunity at a time.
Boy, are we excited!!!!!🥳🥳 We heard that the Washington Parish community needed a place for pet supplies for families in need and we listened! 😊
Introducing the new “Kibble Kottage” located at the Washington Parish Animal Shelter. Have extra pet supplies or food? Help us fill it up! 🐶🐱 In need of some food for your furry friend, go grab you some!
A huge thank you to Christa and Phil for bringing our vision to life and for donating some amazing platforms for the play yards. The pups loved them!! 😍
As you know, we are passionate about helping dogs get homes too. Our shelters and sanctuaries are overcrowded. Looking for a furry companion? Now is the time to adopt!
